Aryssa Leigh Burrs
Hey there! My name is Aryssa, and I am so proud to be a founding member of Lyyra. You can find me based in cities up and down the East Coast, from Washington DC, to Philly, to New York. However, you can also find me singing with Lyyra, other ensembles, and on soloist contracts that allow me to often travel the world. I have Bachelors and Masters degrees in Vocal Performance as well as Music Education from The University of Maryland and Northwestern, respectively. I spent time teaching in the classroom before inevitably journeying back to pursuing performance in the way that my young self had always imagined. I now get to perform often with ensembles such as The Crossing, Apollo’s Fire Orchestra, Ensemble Altera, and Clarion Music Society. As a soloist, you will find me singing all kinds of genres and styles with a big-ole smile on my face. Sometimes you’ll see me as Alto soloist for baroque masterworks, or as your comedic-relief young-lad operatic Mezzo, or concocting my own artistic melds in a self-curated concert of my production company, ALB Produces. Making and sharing music in such an intimate, engaging, and thoughtful way has been really my only goal for my own artistic life, and it is so fulling to have found a home in that with Lyyra.
Now, a few rapid fire fun facts: I have a hobby in ceramics, but only throwing; I have a Nintendo Switch, but only play Zelda games; and I adore the taste of coffee, but can’t handle the caffeine.
